ammerschwir_kientzheim.jpgAs a wine-producing region since Roman times, Alsace has never ceased to amaze both eyes and tastebuds: the vineyards lying between the plains of the Rhine valley and the Vosges mountains offer us sparkling colours and the most delicate aromas for a timeless and unforgettable journey through the senses…

During the Middle Ages, the wines of Alsace were amongst the most renowned in all Europe. Now, thanks to extremely strict rules regulating selection and production, Alsatian wines have kept all of their character. Sheltered by the Vosges mountains, the vineyards enjoy a dry, sunny climate, which, together with optimal sunshine conditions and the great diversity of its soils, favour the successful cultivation of numerous grape varieties and the slow unveiling of aromas of great elegance.

Alsatian wines are also amongst the only French wines to be allowed to bear the name of their grape variety, being, in the great majority of cases, the product of a single variety: Sylvaner, Muscat, Pinot blanc, Pinot gris (formerly called Tokay), Pinot noir, Riesling and Gewurtztraminer are some of the names that, from the aperitif to dessert, and in the finest restaurants in the land to more everyday meals, allow us to find a wine for every palate.
