Wines of the ‘Pinot Blanc’ appellation are produced from a blend of two very similar grape varieties:
- Pinot auxerrois: characterised by early ripening, it produces round, rich, smooth wines with supple acidity. It develops aromas of white fruit reminiscent of hazelnut with a hint of peanut when it reaches optimal maturity.
- Pinot blanc: produces crisp, fresh wines with aromas of white fruit such as peach or pear. Its fresh acidity marries very well with the more supple pinot auxerrois.

These early harvest varieties are also the basis for the blends for Alsace Crémants (sparkling wines).

The Maison Ehrhart pays special attention to striking the optimal olfactory/gustative balance in the blending and vinification of these two grape varieties. Our Pinot Blanc AOC vintages find this balance in the company of cold starters (different salads, cold meats etc.) but also with seafood and fish paté. Pinot blanc also goes very well with quiches, savoury tarts, roast veal, soufflés and asparagus and accompanies young cheeses superbly.

Equally suited for a friendly, informal snack meal.
